Father Squirrel Falls from the Tree

by Axel Scheffler, illustrated by Axel Scheffler

During a storm, Father Squirrel is thrown from the nest. Two children find him completely exhausted in the park and nurse him a little too “lovingly” back to health: He is blow-dried, dressed, fed with nut-nougat cream, and wheeled around in a doll’s baby carriage.

But while walking in the park, the two children find out that he has a family that misses him, and they realize that Father Squirrel won’t really be happy with eating nut-nougat cream and wearing a doll’s outfit. Now they’re going to risk their necks in an attempt (which ends happily!) to reunite the family.
