"The Kangaroo Chronicles" are about a talking kangaroo that moves into the house of an intellectual but unsuccessful young author. Somehow, the two of them become close, and the author regularly tells the self-confident, somewhat inconsiderate kangaroo about his life, reads his work to him, and candidly explains what the everyday life of an author is like. When you've got this kangaroo for a neighbor, you don't need any enemies; the criticism is blunt (and highly amusing to the reader).
