André Breinbauer, born in Passau in 1973, studied graphic design at the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2005, he has lived and worked in Vienna as a freelance illustrator and comic artist.
His work has appeared in various magazines and anthologies; he has created pieces for the MAK—Austrian Museum of Applied Arts—and the SLASH Film Festival, among others. He also teaches comic-drawing courses at the Vienna Art School.
In his debut graphic novel, “Medusa and Perseus,” he explores his favorite question: Who is actually the monster here? In 2026, Carlsen Comics published “Blutsauger”—a comic set in Vienna in which Breinbauer blends crime, horror, and social commentary. Since 2025, he has been bringing Heinz Strunk’s “Graf Fauchi” to life with visually striking illustrations.
